Cricappeal is owned and run by Mark Davis.
Mark is a freelance coach offering coaching to all ages and abilities. Cricappeal was set up in 2014 after 20 years of Mark coaching within the Independent School system. He now works for schools, cricket clubs and individuals, coaching and mentoring. Cricappeal provides professional private cricket coaching in the South West of England.

Mark works to express skills in such a way that his students enjoy the coaching aspect as much as they enjoy playing the game. To impact on students the appreciation, knowledge and love of the game of cricket which he derived from his own career. He is passionate about coaching and will give his all for every cricketer whatever their ability to realise their potential whilst in his care.

Mark coaches both individuals and groups. He can offer comprehensive skill development in batting, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping at either a primary or high performance standard. Whether looking to develop your technique or hone your game, whatever age or skill level, Mark can help to realise your true potential.

Despite being a professional bowler, he is comfortable coaching all aspects of the game.

His own development has been aided by extensive travel worldwide including India where he undertook training sessions at a high performance spin academy. Mark has coached 18 young cricketers who have progressed through to the professional game, including Craig Keiswetter (England ODI and T20 XI, MoM T20 World Cup Final) and Keiron Powell (West Indies Test XI opening batsman). Also Daniel Bell-Drummond who is the leading run scorer in the history of England U19 cricket. Also current Somerset County Cricket Club players James Hildreth, Max Waller and George Bartlett. He has worked as a 'scout' for Somerset C.C.C Academy.

Mark is the author of two 2012 Coaching books on Batting and Bowling published by Bloomsbury in the UK and India. Mark is currently mentoring/ coaching three professional cricketers.

Professional Career

Mark is a former professional cricketer, who represented Somerset County Cricket Club in 77 first-class matches and 59 List A matches between 1982 and 1987. A left arm fast-medium bowler and left-handed batsmen. During his career he took 149 first-class wickets at an average of 35.62 and a best performance of 7 for 55. He averaged 14.60 with the bat with a solitary first-class fifty, 60 not out. He opened the bowling with Ian Botham and Joel Garner. Other notable colleagues included Viv Richards, Martin Crowe and Vic Marks. Mark toured Zimbabwe with England ‘A’ in 1982. Mark is currently the on-air analyst for BBC Radio Bristol’s cricket coverage.
